It took the Shaman a moment to realize what was going on – the warrior was using something like what he could do, which let him move incredibly fast. Ferenic did the same, increasing the level of adrenaline in his system, making everything seem to slow down. Nothing was really moving slower – he was moving faster.

Instantly, he saw the warrior, just in time to use his gauntlets to block his strike. The blade collided with his gauntlets, which deflected the strike, but prevented Ferenic from moving away. The warrior let out a small grunt, forcing the follow through of his blade, which sent Ferenic crashing to the ground.

The Shaman had gone through this scenario before, and rolled with the impact as he struck earth, twisting his body so he could land on his feet as he bounded from the ground. He instinctively raised he hands to channel the wind keeping the warrior from closing the now considerable gap between them. This last move had Ferenic near exhaustion; he dropped to his hands and knees; he hadn’t trained for such a hard fight before.

The Warrior pressed again, putting a knee into Ferenic’s face, sending him backward several feet. Again, Ferenic only got to all fours, placing his hands flat against the ground. The Warrior charged three more times, and each time Ferenic made no effort to defend himself; he only returned to all fours, placing his palms flat to the ground.
