The Joining of the Tribes: Part 1 – pg.4
on March 22, 2012 at 5:06 amUnfortunately, Alexander had something else in mind. While Halatok has reveled in his men falling for the traps, Alex had others marking the battlements, indicating with paths not to take. When the squads found the correct path, only a select few were allowed in, while the others reported back after marking the path.
As nightfall came, the older men of the Tribe began drinking rum heavily, much to Kalman and his friends’ dismay. After surveying the field from their hill, they knew the fight was not yet over. Even still, the men would not listen, preferring their ego and drink over the facts.
Once darkness fell, Alexander signaled the remainder of the five units to engage the village, crowding all three entrances at once. The Halatok that were still sober defended their points, as Kalman’s group split up to support each entrance.
Segito took to the Southeast entrance, where seven men still stood, using their tower shields to create a wall against the horde of Varos attempting to come through.
“Hold your ground! The battle is not lost yet!” the General bellowed, using his trident to impale any Varos that managed to get around or over the wall.
Everos, ever the thinker, took to the Southwest wall and quickly put out the torches that had been lit up by the drunks along the way, hoping to make it harder for the enemy to make their way in. Unfortunately, his plan didn’t work and by the time he’d gotten to the entrance it was already overrun, forcing him to fall back to formulate a new plan.
